I've got 2 separate dealerships giving me some conflicting info on the usual ABS/Traction Control lights - the car threw the C1243 code (stalled ABS pump motor) - one place says I need an ABS pump motor (the BPMV) and this will solve the problem - another GM dealership is saying I need the EBCM since that is the unit that actually controls the abs pump, and that will solve my issues. The grounds all check ok, etc. I can get the stuff cheaper than the dealerships are quoting me, but it's all special order stuff and isn't returnable in the odd chance I don't need it - in anyone's opinion, where would you start?
- agreed -- one is saying that - following the flow chart (on GM service doc. #565848) - that the resistance indicates the ebcm should be replaced and the other is saying he's seen these tests give inaccurate results before - yeesh
anyone with this problem ever have to replace BOTH the BPMV and the EBMC??
i just had my 02 fixed today.i scanned with my predator programmer and got a p1571 code (traction control pwm link problem) .the dealership scanned for dtc .got a c1214, solenoid valve relay coil or contact circuit open.tried to clear it and resets right away.they checked for service bulletins and were referred to document #670663 for diagnostics and schematics.suspected shorted ebcm as per diagnostics.they replaced the ebcm. abs, traction control and tc switch work properly again.no codes and no tc or abs lightup on dash.$1960 for ebcm and $185. for labour.this is canadian dollars ,so it could cost approx. 20% less in U.S. its a good thing i had the extended warranty.the module part # 12216561
