I think you will be amazed how bad the original shocks were once you get a new set on.
$$ well spent.

I think that a sway bar upgrade would be a better step for auto crossing. Shocks can make the ride a much more jarring experience over any "bumps" in the road. Sway bars reduce the "roll" on cornering.
I have the stock shocks with the Z06 sway bars. I had Bilsteins but the ride was just to harsh with them installed. I removed then within 30 minutes of use.

you have no shocks! Bilsteins ride great.
