2004 6 speed, few thousand miles. Perfect car so far.
Problem: Last night, after driving about 5 miles, starting smelling distinct burnt rubber odor in cockpit. Not strong, but def there. Gauges/indicators all green.
Drove on home - about 40 miles, watching listening closely. No smell while moving, but when stopped, the odor returned.
Closely visually inspected engine bay when I got home, all looked OK but there def was that same burnt rubber odor and it seemed to be coming from driver's side of engine bay, but not sure of that.
Any ideas? ........ I'd take it into dealer but there's no other symptom right now.
The same thing happened to me one evening this summer. I thought it was coming out of the ventilation system, but I couldn't pinpoint it. It hasn't happened since, and I've put several thousand more miles on the car. Have no idea what it was, but it's gone, and the car runs great. Hope you have the same end result.

WOW, deja vu!!! I had this happen to my Pontiac last summer, thought the belt was slipping and didn't run the A/C (it was hot). Smell went away and I never figured it out. Maybe the "something stuck to the exhaust" scenario, who knows.
