They are not difficult at all. That said depending on what brand you use, the difficulty will change as they are not all the same. If you are mechanically inclined you can do the install with no problem. Bob
Just installed my Kooks, it went pretty good. Watch out for a couple things though. First of all on my installation directions said to loosen the alternator bracket, we ended up taking it all the way off. one bolt on there that is a SOB to get to, will take some time. Also watch out for temp sensor on drivers side, we broke the plastic connector end off when we tried to force header in from top. But that was before we took alt. bracket off. Follow the directions and you should be fine.
Just did mine this past weekend. There Are 2 hard bolts to get at.The driverside back header bolt. Rear of motor, the bolt holding air tube on back of motor. That need to be changed for LG headers for 97-2000 model years. The rest was easy. I loosen the starter and passenger side went right in.driver side went in in easy from botton.I left alt bracket on.
BEWARE OF OIL TEMP WIRE ON DRIVERS SIDE!!! It is on top of oil filter.I didn't see it when under car and pulled wire out of connector. You should unplug it .
PS Does anyone know where i can order a new oil temp sencor connect with wires to splice back to my orginal?
I've had to remove both the alternator AND the starter on some cars to get clearance. Sometimes the bottom bracket (that bolts to the bellhousing) doesn't line up properly, and you need to be comfortable cranking it over with ratchet straps etc. If you go ahead and get everything out of the way, the actual headers go on quite easily.
I'm about to find out how easy the header install will be this weekend.
My Stainless Works headers are at JetHot right now and I will pick them up Friday. Along with the header install, Random Tec. high flows and their X pipe.
I'm going to use the "LS1 HowTo" instructions for LG longtubes for a guide.
I'm all ears for additional tips!

I will be doing the same install this weekend. I bought a Dynatech header/cat/x-pipe kit last week (still waiting on delivery) and I will be using the LS1-how-to also. I just hope I have all of the right tools!
After this weekend there will be a few more meaner vettes on the road!
Don't forget to buy 2 gaskets for flanges at the cat- bac.My set of LG headers didn't come with them. The old ones came apart.Auto Zone & Murrays Don't keep these instock.
Had more problem with getting the 02 sensors to quit sending in check engine light than anything. Get ready for a loud car when u put the gas peddle down.............Have fun
really though I'm having a speed shop do it along with other mods...LSX intake, headers with sensor probe and instrurments pod on the "A" pillar. I'm going to monitor EGT and O2/gas mixture. Just for fun
I installed Dynotech's on mine. Absolutely no problem. Take your time as mentioned above and follow the instructions, and you will be fine. I promise you will love them!!

And don't forget to by the two little air tube to exhaust manifold gaskets too! Mine were in rough shape when I did my Stainless Works Header install this past weekend.
And by the way, I'm gonna pay the pro's to do the install next time!!!
