This is the ’06 Z06 shifter in my Black C5. I would add one note to Patches' install: in a convertible the waterfall needs to be removed. There are 4 philips screws to take it out before it can be lifted up and out with the lid open. Re-installation is a bit of a pain because the waterfall is a tube and the upper brackets move around so alignment with the holes in the waterfall cover takes a little time, but it is doable. The shifting action and throws are great and the **** is terrific! It has shorter throws than stock and the new base that comes in the package does not have the rubber bushings as the stock shifter has so it shifts a little more positivly. Fred Beans has them for less than $200 to your door; good price, good service, good shifter.

PS I tried to post a couple of pictures, but it wouldn't work. What's the secret?

I put the std C6 shifter in my vert without removing the waterfall, but I did remove the console box lid and the console power plug to give more working space. I'm thinking about changing it out to the Z06 ...
The Z06 unit is really nice. The shift feel is just right for a daily driver. The **** has both leather and metal and gives your hand a lot of different textures to play with while you drive. No vibration or noise and it provides both shorter and more positive shifts. I have a problem with my trans popping out of reverse and I was hoping the new shifter would fix it, it didn't, but I installed the shifter all the way back so that there is a little more leverage to hold it in gear and it is better than it was. I don't know what the difference is between the standard C6 shifter and any other.
