i know u guys prob. hit on this a million times but help me please tonight my right passenger side headlight when it closed kept making a grinding noise for bout 20 seconds and wouldnt go back up so i opened hood an d manually turned it it was kinda bound up after spinning it a few times it free up and started working but when shut it off it closed and kept running again what do i do to fix change gears to brass is this right thanks
Right. Get the brass gear - Mid America is one source but shop around you may be able to find one at a better price. I just went through this myself when I had the same noise. Not that bad to change but forget the plastic replacement gear - not worth the effort. Search this forum for more help - this topic comes up often.

A few. Maybe some in the North where there is snow/ice, or maybe some that don't periodically lubricate the headlight door hinge points. (I use a couple drops of lube on mine at least once each year.) Maybe some people drive more at night than others. Hard to say. I've got 113K on mine and still have the factory plastic gears. I do however, have one of Rodney's brass gears on hand just in case.
until you get the brass gear, you can flip the gear 180 and you should have some good teeth on the other side of the gear. for this you don't even have to open the motor, just unbolt the control arm and turn the gear by hand, note where you start before removing the bolt. hope this helps.
