Default horn problem..common??

every once in a while when i go to honk the horn it doesn't work. Is this a common problem and what was the cause if so. I;m going to assume its just the switch in the steering wheel, any ideas how to get at it before i start tearing it apart?

You have to replace the whloe airbag, the switch in integral to the design. I've also heard horn problems can be a body control module issue......either way it's an expensive fix.

One of my biggest gripes with my 04 vette is the placement of the horn push button. I am use to a Camaro that has a place to put your finger for the horn. The Corvette is hunt and hope! Actually it took me a while to get use to the horn on the vette and I thought for a while it was broke. There is an area just to the right and down from the right side of the flag in the wheel. You have to hit it in the exact area or the horn will not blow. BAD DESIGN if you ask me....

You just need one of those bumper stickers: "Horn broken. Watch for finger."

BAD DESIGN is being kind....It is a flat out stupid design......You've got to keep one hand/finger on the specific area in anticipation that you'll need to use the horn.. Another Morton-Thiokol inspired design.

My steering wheel horn switch conked out 6 months ago and I am waiting for a while before taking it in for warranty (extended) coverage. The horn itself is still functional - it's just the switch in the steering wheel that has failed.

Most likely its the relay, not the switch. Easy way to find out. Swith the fog lamp relay with the horn relay. If the horn works and fog lights dont u know what the problem is. You can get the relay at any discount auto store. Mine cost about $18 and two minites of time to replace. BTW, the relay are located in the fuse box next to the battery, look at the cover to know which ones to swtch. Good Luck
