Electrical gremlins..
A friend has a 97 which continually resets to the odometer reading when the key is turned on. The FOB's keep needing reprogramming, and it continually displays "Pull Key and Wait 10 Seconds" after starting the car. He put a brand new battery in just recently.
The problem went away until he got it back from the dealer after bringing it in for the Column Lock Bypass Recall. Dealer says they didn't do it and couldn't fix it. (would you expect anything else?) Last time at that dealer but that's another story for another post.
I'm thinking the BCM needs replacing or somehow the battery has taken a hit. The alternator is putting out plenty and the car cranks and starts right up.
Any suggestions?

97!! You my friend are having the same issues that I had in my 98! Bad grounds and or bad electrical connections! 
You at a minimum need to clean and retorque the battery cables and then do a complete GROUND CONNECTION cleaning!
The ground cleaning solved 90% of my issues..
