Default What do you think?

For those of you hello again it's been a while. Well the trials and tribulations still continue for me . Since my original motor broke and the replacement motor went bad and second replacement motor with patriot heads and cam is still up and running sort of. After I put 1k on the heads and cam motor I had the motor tuned. Those of you who know who I am I won't put the tuner's name out here because I want your honest opinion. After the tuning on a dyno I was told by the tuner that if the motor still surges after the tuning with the ac on to have a mech drill a hole in the throttle plate. Now, you want my opinion, what in the hell did I pay the freakin money for. Hell the motor still surges without the ac on. I called the machinst who sold me the ported throttle body when I was told this by the tuner. The machinist has well over 30 years building motors everything form fords, gm, mopar, this freakin guy know his shi'' ''. I'm told that the surging issue can still be taken care of with tuning and to absolutely not drill a hole in throttle plate. Gee I forgot I was driving a Corvette zo6 not and with no disrespect a f-body. Well what do you think, because my next adventure will probably involve buying a tuning program for myself. And if I do this so help me God I will do this to the extent that no one and I mean no one will know more about tuning ls motors. I have a very strong passion about my vette, I drive it everyday and when I spend my money I want the job done right God damnit, I don't care what it cost if I can afford it. Well there you go!

You need to give us a little more info on your engine and what has been done to it. Cam size etc. From what you are saying the surging is at cruzing speed and I would guess it is because of a lean condition or the specs on your cam could be causing it. If it is because of a lean condition it can be tuned out and should be tuned out. That may have been the cause of the dimise of your other engines. Depending on the size of your cam it could be caused by the lobe seperation and lfit of the cam. Some cams of large size in a specific rpm will surge naturally. I'm thinking however that it might be due to the car being lean. The reason it surges is because the cpu is adding fule to compensate for the lack there of.
As for getting your own tuning software and doing it yourself? Be warned it is not and easy process to learn and will take allot of trial and error if you are not familiar with it. Be prepared to make mistakes and learn as you go. My tuner is one of the best in the business (Bob Moss @ Dragon's Breath Performance 865-577-1990) shamelss plug I know but he has taught me allot about tuning these cars but I still wouldn't attempt it on my on.
Good luck and I hope you get your problems sorted out soon.
