I had new Bridgestone Portenza S-03s put on today, very nice tires!
Anyway I followed the intructions in Tech Tips to reprogram my tire pressure sensors in my 04 coupe. The first three reset, but the last wheel, the left rear refuses to respond to the magnet. Do I have a bad sensor or am I doing something wrong?
I'll try a bigger magnet today. I'm getting worried however, as I drove it 40 miles last night, and got a big "tire pressure monitoring system needs maint" error.
The tire place inflated the tires to 45-50psi ("to seat the tires"), so I'm wondering if it is possible to damage the sensor with too much pressure.
I believe there is a little centrifugal switch in the TPMs that are supposed to turn on at a low miles per hour. This saves on battery usage time. I had one TPM that was not reporting the other day, so I found a clear stretch of road and took it up to 80. Tire pressure for that wheel then came on on the DIC.
