Default Clutch problem - Need help

Weird thing happened today at the track. After I ran the ¼ mile I noticed that my clutch only came back up a quarter of the way. I pumped it a couple of times and all seemed will. I made another pass and the same thing happened. At that time I thought I better call it at day.

Anyone have any ideas what was going on? FYI, I have about 39,000 miles on that original clutch.

It'a a pretty common occurance.
Do a search on "clutch problem" and you will find all sorts of posts on the topic.
The only real fix in most cases is a new clutch, pp and master.

This is extremely common, and possibly also due to your long tube headers causing a bit of extra heat going into the slave cylinder. It seems the best way to eliminate this problem is to replace the slave cylinder with an updated Z06 slave, or bleed all of the clutch fluid out with fresh fluid, or... I don't know, but there are many ways of attacking the issue. You'll notice that the clutch will only stick when your beating on your car, that's because of the heat.

Could it be that the fluid is getting hot and foaming, causing air entrapment?

Thanks for the replies. Might be time to change the fluid.

I was also at the track this past weekend and had the same thing happen to me.

This happened when I hit redline (by accident). By the time I got to the return lane, everything came back to normal.
I made 2 other passes that day with no trouble.

I'm guessing this may be part of the cars ability not to self destruct?
Perhaps the clutch is left engage to drop RPM's

Did you happen to hit redline when this happened to you?

C5Jim, I run my car as close to redline as I can (just before the limiter kicks in). Should I be shifting sooner?

Not sure, but I made my next 2 passes staying under 6K and had no problems.
I'm guessing there is a tie in with the rev limiter and the clutch. It's the only thing that makes sense. My clutch works fine now.
