Can the rear wheel studs be replaced on the car? I want to install longer studs and don't know how much disassembly is necessary. Thanks in advance.
I stripped one of my rear studs at a race in 2004. To replace it, I took off the whole rear spindle, then took the wheel bearing assembly out of the spindle (which is attached with three torx bolts), and replaced the whole wheel bearing with a new one. If your wheel bearing is okay, it would be fairly easy to use a press or vice to get the studs out of the wheel bearing assembly once it is off the spindle.
That said, I have read on this forum where some guys actually drill a hole through the parking brake plate on the inside of the rear wheel and press the studs off with the wheel bearing assembly on the car. I wasn't brave enough to try that.
