I have a 2001 Z06 with 35K miles. I had the "Service Active Handling/TCS" message pop up a couple of days ago. I turned off the car, waiting about five minutes and when I started it back up it was gone. Just to be safe, I decided to pull the codes. Here's what I got:
28-TCS - Traction Control System
C1225 RF Excessive Wheel Speed Variation
A0-LDCM - Left Door Control Module
B2282 Battery #1 Fault
B2284 Battery #2 Fault
U1064 Loss of Communications with BCM
A1-RDCM - Right Door Control Module
B2283 Battery #1 Fault
B2285 Battery #2 Fault
U1064 Loss of Communications with BCM
I had read in other posts that a weak battery can cause the "Service Active Handling/TCS" message and after seeing all the codes to do with battery faults, I'm wondering if I need a new battery or are these things normal?
Sorry, I can't help you with the codes, but is your HUD changing back to something other than what you have it set to when you start your car? That is another sign the battery is on the way out. Good luck.
Erase all of your codes and just make sure they don't come back, if you erase them and they just come back every couple of days then you might have a problem.
I wouldn't worry at all about the door control modules just so long as everything seems to be working on the doors, your abs/tcm light is probably coming on because your right front wheel speed sensor is not working right, I don't know if it's the sensor or the wiring but you may want to look at the plug as it's the most likely culprit.
Thanks for the help folks. I reset all the codes and I had a look at the battery. I beleive it is the original stocker as it still has the C5 sticker on it and no other brand markings. Being that it now 5 years old, I may just replace it anyway. Better safe than sorry
Your battery could be going flat as indicated by the U series codes that are displayed and the reset conditions on the DIC but your traction control issue is most likely NOT related to the battery!
You most likely have a bad connection on one of the harness connectors. Ask me how I know!
The dealer found this pin bad (very loose on the male pin!) and chopped it off and replaced it with a new one.
If you do a pin pull test on each female pin, you will most likely fins one that does not grip the male pin tight. You can also clean the EBTCM ground bit I doubt that it will correct the problem. That is pretty spicific to one wheel. What year is the car?
Mine used to do that after a heavy rain, soon as things dried out, it was fine.Hasn't done it at all since I followed Mr Curlees advice and cleaned all my grounds.Have no idea what caused my problems but car ran fine even with the lights on, and still runs fine as I knock furiously on my head[its wooden]
The front wheel hub pig tail plugs into a short jumper harness. That harness plugs into a plug in the main harness. That is the plug that the picture displays. Here is a very good compareson of a GOOD and BAD plug!
The plug on the right is BAD! The one on the left is new.
If your having EBTCM issues, I wouldnt worry so much as which plug it is. I would check All of the femake plugs for this condition!!
I hate seeing people pay the dealer for misdiagnosed problems!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE PASS on your error codes (DTC's) before dropping bucks to the dealer! We may be able to save you $$$$$$.
