Procharger Saga
I've been trying to decide whether to post my saga with procharger or not but yesturday it happened again...another belt broke, the 6th.
First off; i purchased my stage 2 kit over two months ago. We were told that it would take two weeks to arrive. It took closer to 6. After 3 weeks we called and were told that the heads had to be poliched and it would ship by week's end. After week 4 we called and were told that the kit was ready but there was a mix up and it would go out next week. after 5 weeks the kit arrived and upon checking it out found out that half the parts were for a C5 and the other half for the Z06. After calling Procharger they appologized for the confusion and next day aired the Z06 Stage 2 kit we ordered.(what next day no waiting for polishing?!?!) We were told they were sorry for all the trouble but everyone was at the Sema show.
Now the install....
Procharger claims a 8-10 hour install with hand tools. CAUTION! Don't try this at home.(You will more than likely have to evacuate the AC)
After almost two days of install we were ready for the dyno tune; or not.. that's when we found that the kit would not keep a belt on it. After calling Procharger the tech told us he was " well aware " of the belt issue and told us to put spacers to move the blower forward. ( spacers for a $6,900 kit) the fix does not work. as of yesturday I'm on my 7th belt. My local installer has contacted Procharger on numerous occasions and they have offered NO perminant fix.
My story might be unique but.. If it can help at least one fellow Vette owner make a better decision than I made ; my Saga will be worth it.
Good Luck,
Mike
ATI customer service SUCKS!!! Do some reading. They've been shipping crap for years with known flaws and then do nothing to fix the problems after they have taken you money.
The known problems have all been ironed out by companies like A&A or ECS. They took ATI's head unit and redesigned the system to actually work with it. ATI pulled some of their typical BS and copied these systems and then held back head-units from these guys (who were selling them like hotcakes) to force customers to by their copied system at a far greater price... which you bought. A&A and ECS have started using other brands of head-units and are now even better than the old systems with the ATI head-units... and are still selling them for less than the clowns at ATI.
I hate seeing people buy crap from ATI because they are such a terrible company to deal with. In the future, call someone like A&A. You would've saved $1500, had a better product, and had great CS (if you ever needed it which is unlikely).
Since you already have the ATI kit on your car (and spent another $300 on belts), the fix for your car should be pretty simple to fix. You need to get your hands on a Gates laser alignment tool which is made for aligning all the pulleys. Once the pulleys are shimmed/aligned, you should be all set. Without the Gates tool you're going to have a very hard time fixing your problem.
Next time you should do some research before you buy a big ticket item... in this case it would've saved you thousands and many headaches!

I know it wont help you feel any better.. but I went through the same thing as you are now. I have rebuilt and replaced my ATI kit three times now and the ONLY thing I have left (from the first ATI kit) is a rebuilt head unit. A&A Corvette helped me to get everything resolved and now I have a great setup that I can drive anywhere without problems. I currently have over 5,000 miles on the same belt with no slipping.

Thanks for the in-put

Get a paxton kit from ECS!
http://www.sjdiscounttools.com/laz91006.html is where I ordered mine. It's the best $120 you'll spend on a blower car.
Good Luck,
Mark
