I have started to notice a strange noise coming from the steering wheel when I turn it. It is easily heard with the stereo off and when I am making turns in and out of a parking space, for example. It sounds like a low pitched whine. Any ideas as to what it could be and what the fix might involve?
Maybe your P/S pump is cavitating? Check your power steering fluid level; that'd be a good place to start. If that's ok then maybe it's something in the steering column, mine does have a little noise in the column somewhere but it's very slight. Someone else might know about that issue more...
PS nice car by the way! Same config as mine but no fancy LS6 or anything....
This is a typical problem. If you go to the general section under weights measurements etc it also list common problems and covers this. I had mine fixed under warranty but the fix seems to be to squirt some lubricant in the opening where the wheel meets the steering column. Its plastic rubbing as you turn the wheel.

I read of this column earlier that it's the white spray lubricant. Can't remember the name of it, but I think it's the only white spray grease you can buy.
