This forum is the greatest site I have ever seen for finding out information about corvettes. I have a 99 daily driver and through the forum I have discovered that it isn’t a real reliable car. I have repaired the following; all of which have shown to be problems on this site.
Oil pressure sensor
Fobs
Left differential oil seal
Right fuel tank level sensor
Door lock relays
Ground problems
Cracked flange welds on exhaust system
Got rid of the run flat tires and got a spare and jack
Had a four-wheel alignment done.
Would anyone like to comment on any other problems that might be common to 99’s. I really like these cars but I don’t know if I can afford to keep one. I hate to settle for a Honda just because they don’t break.
I have a 99 FRC and have had none of the problems you mentioned.

I would add to your list the inadvertent steering column locking problem. I had mine lock up once and then installed the CLB.
I was not aware of the cracked flange problem. Thanks for the heads-up.
I bought my 99 in 2000 used, with 17k miles on it. I now have over 85k miles on it. Yes, I have experienced the waterpump going, ac leak, oil preesure sensor failure, fuel gage acting up when I used cheap gas, went back to good gas and there were no problems, that good ol rocking seat, I'm on my second glass top and it is starting to peel as the sun is hard on them here in FL. And like others, I've experienced the pita steering column lock (four times).
But I'm still on original clutch and I don't baby it either. I still get approx 17 mpg around town and on our long trips it is 28-30mpg.
I still get kicks and grins every time I get in it. I get the challenges at the traffic light, I take it to the local 1/4 mile track a couple times a year with other club members just for fun, go on cruises, long drives with my wife, and do a few car shows to raise money for a local charity. We have made new friends (corvette owners of course) along the way that will last a lifetime. It is driven every day with miles of smiles! All in all I'd by the same 99 again.

Consider that many imports with OHC engines have a timing belt(s) that needs to be replaced after awhile(60k?). These can cost anywhere from $400 to who knows, I helped a buddy replace the belts on his 98 Tacoma, two belts. It required complete disassembly of the front of the engine. I would hate to see what a dealer would charge to do that job.
Even if you have to replace a clutch, you are still money ahead.
Had mine for 7 years, the only problem was the relay had to be replaced that requires the clutch pedal to be depressed when starting, and replace the left half shaft seal. Other than that no hint of a problem!!!!
I have a 99 coupe with 70K miles on it that I have had for about eight months. I had to fix the left HVAC door servo problem when I got it but other than that it's been great. No problems other than normal wear and tear ( chipped windshield ) , and tightened up the left side window tract.
Transmission replaced at 38000.. Rocking seat problem. Oil pressure sending unit, Seat bolster bladder replced. Gas Gauge problems. Column lock problems. Leak on Driver side window. Stripped out A/C temp control ****.. Mine is a 99 Everything has been fixed under warranty. Thank God I bought the extended warranty. Still love my car. Its a weekend , fair weather driver. I take excellent care of my car. I think I've fixed the most common problems. I still love my Corvette. Just remember its a Chevrolet not a Honda or Toyota
I've got a 99 SS and a 99 FRC, no major problems with either! I replaced the water pump on my SS, but everything else has been replaced due to modding
I also have an 02 Traiblazer I6 2wd, owned it since new and other than a stupid recall on something 3 years ago, its been great?!
