Default TC and ABS Warning

Last time I was at the track, I inadvertently attempted a burnout at the track with TC on...

Now I have a Service TC error on my DIC.

To the best of my knowledge, TC isn't functional.

Wondering if replacing the Electronic Brake & Traction Control Module would be a good start. It's not cheap so I'd rather perfer not to take a chance at it if there's something else I can try first.

TIA guys!

Strange, not sure what might have broken. I accidentally did that too, the car stalled.

What happens if you pull the battery and try to reset the entire car?

Check and post your codes. Then we can offer better advice.

There are several things that could cause this message. One of them is the module you mention. Check your grounds, your wheel speed sensors, wiring from the sensors, etc.

EBTCM is the LAST thing that you want to replace. There are lots of things that might be the issue. My guess is that you have a DTC code in the DIC and it needs to be cleared. Check for codes, post what you find and clear the code. I bet you will be ALL set!

This has happened to me as well a couple of times in the past month or so . No burnouts here , and no track , just daily driving .
i get no "check engine light" to come on , but a service engine message on the display , as well as ABS and traction lights come on , during which , traction switch will no longer work .
this will stay on for 15 or 20 minutes even if I restart the car , but then if I let it sit a while then restart the engine , everything will go back to normal , and no messages and no lights , and this only happened twice in a month . The first time , I thought it was just a computer burp , but now I am thinking that there is something on its way out !
Sorry , I am not trying to steal your thread , but thought that might be a related problem to yours .

When this "same symptom" happened to my 98 coupr, it was caused by bad grounds! After I cleaned all of the grounds, the problem went a way permently. Check your grounds.

Oh, yea,,, check your brake fluid level. The TCS is inhibited if the fluid is low. You would also get a low brake fluid warning but what the hell. It something else to check.

Do a search on "abs". You will find five pages of thread titles on this fine GM system. Mine was in several times for this, with many parts replaced. Mine was finally solved by replacing the ABS pump. I would randomly get the traction control/ABS alarms. Fortunately the car was under warranty at the time. It would have cost me a ton of money if I had been paying for the dealer troubleshooting and parts replacement. As far as I'm concerned, with all the issues and failures on the C5 Active Handling/ABS systems, there should have been a mandated recall.
