Can anyone tell me wether the factory titanium Z06 exhaust is better or should I go with something like ARK for a 2000 C5? thanks

Is it better then stock? I would say so...its considerably lighter and a little more free flowing and makes a little deeper sound. Besides, its an OEM part and fit and finish is AWESOME. (love the round tips) I have them on my 97, shorty headers right now (long tubes being installed as we speak) and it made a nice sound difference over stock...nice WOT, but mild on the highway at speed. If its loud you are looking for...the Ti system on a stock setup is not going to give you what you want. On the other hand, with headers...it will be nice!

I installed a Z06 Ti set up on my 98 MN6 coupe. byte_me is right on the money!! The Ti system looks much better and sounds better.

You need to be real careful which system you install on your car. Once you purchase a system, it will be a costly mistake if you dont like it. There have been many forum members who purchased a system on the advice of another person and regertted it. It will be either too loud or not loud enough! The real problem is the in cabin resonance. Some systems are horrible The OEM Z06 TI exhaust has very little if any resonance!

My recommendations is for you to make post a looking for other forum members in your area or in a distance that you are willing to drive to to test out a system in person. Once you find a system that you like, COPY IT!! If you listen to some ones car that has XXX cat back exhaust and headers, if you install the same XXX system "without" headers, it may sound different.

You will get 50 different answers. I recommend saving up for a complete install (headers, high flow cats, X pipe and aftermarket mufflers. It will save you $$$ in the end because, you know ,,, the mod bug WILL strike you again!

I purchased a Stainless Works system and really like it. It has very little resonance and sounds wicked cool!!

Try to find a link or someone with a Bassani system. You don't see them everyday and I love the sound. Deep at idle, then the pitch goes up with the R'sss and sounds exotic. Perfect fit and finish and absolutely no resonance. Just my opinion

Performance for cat-back systems is all about the same.

Go with the sound (and resonance or lack thereof), appearance, and price.

Update:

I just had my Kooks 1 3/4" long tubes, High Flow Cats and X-pipe installed still using my Ti Z06 catback...the sound is AWESOME! It has a nice gurgle at idle that can be heard from the back of the car...wide open is a blast...it just growls beautifully now! and the highway driving is actually better then it was with the shorties I just pulled! It's the best combo for that aggressive muscle sound when you get on it, and then for those drives to work etc...you can talk on a cell phone and still be heard!

Glad I kept the Ti's on her!

Oh, Kooks headers are INCREDIBLE!

I love my Borla Stinger the most but the Ti Z06 exhaust sounds great on a cammed car with headers and x-pipe. And isn't as loud as the stingers if you're not into being loud.

Gotta tell ya, I love my Stingers. They produce a low rumble that wakes up sleeping alarms in other peoples cars.

Love my Borla Stingers! As others have suggested, go listen to some before you make your decision!

Have the exact same setup...Kooks, XPipe and Ti's, love the sound! If you keep the revs low, no reasonance or booming. At 2500 there is a definite howl due to the cam/headers and exhaust combo but it is not offensive.
Best advice is listen to a variety of set ups before you make your decision.
