console door wont close

console door wont close
the center console door wont close because the latch on the receiver end of the console wont slide away to let the tab on the door go in. i cannot seem to get that recever piece to move aside. does not feel broken, it just wont slide to the side to accept the tab/latch on the door. did not take console apart yet, but to replace the latch it looks like i will have to. i can pry it up but it wont pop out. probably has some kind of wire holder or spring thingy to hold it in. guess the console has to come out thanks in advance for any help.
by the way i got a 2002 electron blue with red interior. any one else out there with this color combo. most people love it, only a few say its too much. i love the combo otherwise i probably would have got a c6,by now. now i am thinking z06 in 2 years.i hope.

It append to me once. Girlfriend put something in the console and move the retainer into the closed position. I took a key (you can take a small screw driver) and pulled the retainer out.
