I am removing my alternator bracket to replace it with a chrome one.I have one question, where do you unhook the power steering hoses? At the fluid reservoir or at the pump? I am removing the pump with the alt. bracket. I have already removed the lines from the bottom of the reservoir but their is still a line connected to the pump. Thanks
The way I do it is to slide the clamp back at the reservoir and pull the reservoir away leaving the short hose on the pump. Then remove the lower line at the rack. With some jockying you can get the bracket out with the pump and lower line still attached. To avoid a mess I suck the P/S fluid out of the reservoir with a syringe before I pull it away from the pump.
Here's a tip: The bolt behind the reservoir is very difficult to get out. Once you do get it out, cut a slot in the bracket so that you can slide the reservoir and bracket back under the bolt at the time of reassembly.
Is your old bracket for sale, I need one?
