I have an '00 FRC, and I've recently heard a slight rattle when I let the clutch out in 1st gear, and in second.
I was reading the C5 "issues" sticky, and it kind of sounds like the throwout bearing, but it also goes away after I increase the rpm's, this also happens in second.
It almost sounds like something loose, b/c the lower rpms cause a vibration, and as the rpms go up, it goes away...I don't know, does it sound like the throwout bearing, if so I'll ignore it, I 've read its normal.
a throw-out bearing will not give you a vibration in the driveline,if anything you would feel it in the pedal.if the throw-out bearing is noisey, you would here it at idle with the clutch engaged[foot off pedal].
without feeling the vibration it is hard to tell you what could be wrong, but i would check the torque on the rear axle shafts.they tend to loosen up and create a clicking noise.the fix is to remove the nuts, lube the splines and retorque.other causes could be loose rattle springs in the disc[wouldn't really cause a vibration though],a pressure plate going bad[that would cause a vibration],driveshaft, etc.
Sorry guys, I didn't specify... I meant a noise (rattle) as a result of a vibrating part somewhere because of the lower rpms...I didn't mean a vibration as if you can feel something, no feeling, just sound.
The car is as quiet as anything, even with the clutch engaged, and in neutral. Its just when I go from a stoplight, driving normallyt, when I let the clutch out, I hear a rattle, and as I give it more throttle, as the rpm's go up, it goes away, I've also heard it when I shift into second. To me, it almost sounds as if something's loose toward the rear of the car. The lower rpms of the engine might make something "vibrate" (not felt) causing a rattling sound, then as the engine increases rpm, it stops. I was just wondering if it was the throwout bearing, or there is a loose bracket or something.
I've got the EXACT same problem, even does it in reverse. Clutch was pulled yesterday and it was destroyed. Flywheel was warped about 1/4 inch and I need a whole new setup now.
