Default Tuners in Texas

I bought my motor from a guy that works at a performance shop here in Austin with the agreement that we'd get together and tune it soon after the swap. It's been a while and for one reason or another we haven't been able to meet up. Lately I've feel like I've been getting the brush off. It's nothing against the guy, but inspection time is overdue and it won't pass inspection until it gets tuned (check engine light).

I'm looking for a tuner in Texas. I'm gonna be heading up north near Lubbock next week and also towards San Antonio. Are there any reputable tuners out that way? I know of several near or in Houston, but don't want to travel that way if I don't have to.

Please don't reccomend a tuner that you've just "heard" about. I'd appreciate being referred to someone that you have first hand experience with or have seen their results. They will need to have the capability to tune a 1999 C5 Coupe with a LS1 383ci engine. TIA

Give Nate at Corvette Garage in Lubbock a call. He can either take care of you or direct you to someone conveniently located for you. He's a very well respected forum vendor here. 1-806-771-0205

Our club in San Antonio uses Henderson Performance in New Braunfels. He did my DS1C setup and got me 700+ rwhp with a very conservative tune and he took his time. On the dyne when I got there was a LS1 stroked F-Body that got 600+ rwhp. In our area he is one of the best, sure you could go to Dallas or Houston to the big boys or close to home where we go for a very good tune

Another vote for Texas Speed. They have tuned 3 ls1's for me, and have done all kinds of work to them. I used to drive from houston to lubbock to have them work on the car, and worth every mile. I am a little closer now, so it's even better

If your in Austin, give me a call or pm if you are still needing a tune. I think I can get you with one of our tuners that lives there in Austin. In fact he is about to fly down here to Lubbock to tune a couple of engines on our engine dyno!

35mins south of Austin. He did both my Vettes. Real smart guy. Dyno tune is $350 and then if you make changes later its only $100 for a retune... There are several guys that come all the way from Houston just for him.. 210-867-6286 his name is Cory Henderson

I spoke to Corey about 30 minutes ago. You are right, he is very knowledgeable and I think I will take my vehicle to him to get it tuned. I asked him a few questions about the tuning, and about vettes in general and his answers are right on. I told him my goals of the tuning and he believes they can be accomplished. He made a very good first impression. I will update this thread once I get the tune to let y'all know how my experience goes and the results of the tune. I've got my fingers crossed for 500 rwhp.

I want to thank everyone for all the responses and suggestions. I think the close proximity to my home sealed my decision. Makes me wish I had more vettes in need of tuning. j/k, one is all I can handle.

500RWHP on a 383ci what else are you running in it? If you get this Please Let me know the set-up. I don't mean to sound negative but I don't think you are going to get it. Good luck to you though, and let me know, thats what I have in mine.

Good choice of tuners in our area. Post those numbers when you have your new tune. I like what he did with my car and I know you will like what he does with yours

pull a fuse or reset your battery if you need to inspect asap with out replacing your 02 sensors or some other sensor failure.

It's a 383 ci engine. I'm pretty sure it'll pull 500 rwhp because it was previously in a 01 SS and it made 495 rwhp in that. There are even a few h/c cars that are getting 500+ or dang close. We shall see.

The setup is an eagle rotating assembly with ross pistons in an ls1 block. It has:
Patriot Stage 3 5.3L heads
ls6 intake
240/248 .608/.612 112 lsa
underdrive pulley
TPIS Headers
PRT Catback
Spec 3
Vortex Intake

I'm supposed to go see Corey this Sat., I'll post the results.
