Default Cam Thoughts

Is there anyone here that can give me thoughts on this CAM
(Comp Cam 220-224 on a 114 +1)

I will be running these with stock heads, Shorty BBK Header, Varaam, Borl Quad Stinger and a DYNO Tune with EFI Live. Charlie at A&A e-mailed me and told it was perfect with the stock heads and told me in his own words

(QUOTE)

(Stay with the shorty headers. They are a good combination with the cam you have chosen (good choice)!

(END QUOTE)

So, I was wondering if anyone had one installed or if anyone could estimate after the complete install where I will finish on the dyno! I do not want to be in the excessive 400+hp crew, I just want to get to around 380HP! Also, should I change my intake as well, and if so too which one!

Thaks guys!

Probably the reason you have no takers is that you have not provided enough information. For example, what gears, transmission and other mods do you already have (or have planned)?

As point of reference, if you are installing this in a basically stock Z06, you should meet your goals easily. Since you already have a dialog going with Charlie, I think your best bet is to just continue, and get all your questions answered. He won't steer you wrong.

What year is your Corvette? Auto or Manual?

Anyways if you don not have it, swap out to a LS6 intake. If you want to mod this is a must. The cam should work well with stock heads, but I would splurge and get some LT's and dump the shorties. I would estimate that RWHP on a manual car would be around 350, plus ten if get the LS6 intake.

Fellow racer has an 01WS6TA that has a 224/224 565/565 112 with ported heads and LT's. He has put down 376 RWHP. Which has netted an 11.98 at the track.

The cam should work well and be very streetable. I myslef went a little more aggressive and put in a Thunder Racing 230/224 575/565 111LSA.
The low LSA gives on heck of an idle thru stock mufflers. If not a daily driver I would go a little more aggressive and a 112 LSA. This is just me and I say a 112 LSA because I like the lope and idle of the Old School V8's. Good luck and Keep us posted.

I have that cam with stage II heads and LT headers making 640 HP to the wheels.......Oh did I mention that I have a blower? It's a good over all cam and will allow you to pass the sniffer if you should need to. I would expect 35 to 40 pony's if all you did is cam and shorties. I have a 225-225-/595-595/114+2 that I can sell you that made 410 to the wheels and Charlie did the tune. I will take $300 for it if your interested.

Ditto the A&A if your in their general area. If not and your going to do everything via tha mail order I would call the boys at Texas Speed. They have helped me build up several cars and have everything in stock you will need. Also I have used Speed Inc for parts and technical help in putting the right combo together.

Here is a list of everything you will need.
Stage II or III heads with duel springs, my personal pick would be AFR's
Cam - your choice of specks
Head gaskets - factory stockers are best
Hardened push rods - stock length
double roller timing chain - Rollmaster or SLP will do fine
Ported oil pump and oil pump gasket seal - OEM blue O-ring
Intake gaskets - OEM factory ones work best
Crank bolt - OEM factory one works best
Header gaskets - OEM factory ones work best
Timing cover gasket - OEM factory
Head bolts - OEM factory are fine, you can get ARP's if you want

Your factory rockers are fine but if you really want to upgrade you can go with the SLP roller rockers or Comp makes a good set. But again your factory rockers are fine for your purpose and I would save your money.
