NO NO NO! You have it all wrong. If it is NOT broke,, fix it till it is!! That the NAVY motto! I have a bunch of pictures at home and I will get them out to this post tonight. At work right now and dont have access to my photobucket account.

There is a large plug on the inboard side of the EBTCM that is cam operated. You will need to remove a small plastic safety pin and them all you do is lift the handle for the plug and the cam mechansim retracts the plug. To reinstall the plug, just insert it into the cavity and push the handle down. The plug will align it self and thats it.

Now you just confused me.
I'll have to get under the car to see what you are talking about
You mentioned "inboard side" of the EBTCM. Can I get at it without taking half the car apart?
And what is this "cam operated" you speak of ?
Get any snow where you are?
I'm going to have to come up to EG's house just to talk to you. If there is snow on the ground.....I'll take the Buick

Here are all of the pictures that you will need:

Early EBTCM on 97 and early 98 C5's (rear of Diff)

Electrical plug on module (CAM LEVER CLOSED)

Electrical plug on module (CAM LEVER OPEN)

Once the cam lever is open, the connector can be removed

Here is the ground on the pump motor that can become corroded and cause problems

This is how the module is removed from the hydaulic unit. (note* There is no hydraulic interface between the electronics and the pump assembly)

Does this make it any more clear?

Woops,,,almost forgot to tell you!! Before you can lift up the cam to disconnect the plug,,, you will need to remove the safety lock pin. It will be a small white or grey plastic pin that slips in to the area in the center of the plug. It prevents the cam from lifting and the plug from being removed!!

These pics and info should be stickified, lots of problems associated with this plug, particularly on the cars with the rear mounted EBTCM...
Thanks again Bill for resurrecting the pics.
