I need to get the rhino ramps for my 2000 vette and went to the store and saw that there are the 8000's and the 12000's. Which one do I need to get? Thanks
I assume those are pounds so if it is for a Corvette only (it weighs under 3,500) and you want to save the money - get the 8000's. If you have the money - get the other ones so you can use them on anything you might have now or in the future.
Yeah that makes since, I did not think about that being the weight. Thanks a lot, I may go with the bigger ones so I can use them on the Silverado as well.
Get the grey ones. I think they are the stronger ones. If you look, they are wider than the black ones and fit your tires better.
I thought the Rino Ramps would NOT fit with their angle -- 11 degrees which i think is needed ?????
i havent found any that clear the front rubber dam !?!?!?!
Any help would be appreciated !!!!!!

Gray here....
you're right the dam hits, but it folds....
IF you are worried about that, buy a 4 foot piece of 2x12 plank. cut it in half but not with 90 degree cut but a 45 degree cut.
Use the pieces ( on in front of each wheel) as a pre-ramp. and drive up.
Others drive up onto the 2x 12, then jack up the front and place the ramps under the wheels.
There is no problem backing onto the ramps wihout the pre-ramps

Reason: spelling
I use the Rhino Ramps. The two outer air dams do get squished when you drive up but it doesn't seem to do any permenant damge. If you put a 2x6 infront of the ramp I bet that would keep them from hitting as they only hit when you first start to go up the ramp.
While your out getting your ramps, pick up a 4 foot long 2x6. When you get home, cut it in half and drive up on it first, then the ramps. It works better if you angle cut it to make it easier to dirve up on without sliding forward.
I made some taller ones by just cutting and stacking 3 old plywood pieces on top of each other but offset an inch each which fits nicely on the start of the ramp and makes it easy to drive up on.

I just got the Race Ramps from Corvette Central.
They say they are made for the C5 Vettes. A bit pricey and I haven't tried them yet but it looks like they will work.
Look at the 56" ramps on their site. They have less than an 11 degree rise. www.raceramps.com

Get the 12K ones - used them for the first time yesterday to install the CAGS bypass and they worked fine. I put them down on carpeting that I have on the garage and there was no slippage. Rubber mat or something similar is also a good idea.
Get the 1200 because they are wider not because they hold more. 8000 lbs is more than you will need. I use the 8000 to raise the front of a front wheel drive 11000 lb motorhome. There will never be that much on two of the wheels.Probably only 4000 lbs on them. I still use a jack stand under just in case.
Barrier
I'm personally not a big fan of any style drive up ramp... Reason being back in 91' my 17 year old cousin was working on his 70 Nova SS and it rolled off the stands while he was working in his garage and he was killed. A week before his birthday and very close to his high school graduation.
Now saying that when it comes to buying any equipment the best is to buy in excess, meaning buy something stronger and more capable then the minimun that you need. So go with the 12000 if you are to buy them, make sure you Chuck or Block the rear wheels to prevent the car from rolling.
