Default Manual Remote Start Experts Needed!

K My buddy and I are finallizing the setup.
We figgured out the car would not remote start due to the fact that the brake wire was transmiting ground/power one after another and it kept the RM starter from starting.

Now what do you guys do? Cut the wire and add a switch or is there another way around this?

What kind of alarm do you have? I don't think you have something hooked up right. Are you talking about the the wire where when you press the brake it will shut the car off if remote started? I am 99% sure you don't need to cut any wire dealing with the brake switch. I looked it up awhile ago, so I am not 100%. I am doing my remote start on my z next week.

I am talking about the switch. After remote starting the car you get inside put in your key turn it to the on position and then press the break peddal which will switch from the remote starter to your regular stock car system.
Now when you hit the break switch usually it emmits one positive signal and the alarm recognizes and switches over... only problem is when the probe on the switch it emmits ground/power a few times one after another so it confuses the system and it shuts down. So what I have to to is intigrate a seperate switch in my console that ones I get it I put the key etc. and flip a switch ... i guess only way to go about it.

Put a relay in there. If the brake pedal is supposed to give + out, hook up brake wire to one side of relay coil and ground the other relay coil wire. Then all you have to do is run whatever it is YOUR alarm wants to see through the Normally open contacts of the relay. This way, the wire will only fire the relay when it gets positive and it isolates the wire going to your alarm from ever seeing the negative.

Hope this helps.

you do understand the dangers of remote starting a manual right? is this one of those new fangled ones that is made to work with manuals? Or did you at least put in a safety so the parking brake must be fully up or it won't start?

Did you use the white wire above the brake? You shouldn't have to do any thing on the brake wire to get it to work right. If I remember right you have to use some diodes for the door locks and buy the box to bypass the VATS for remote start but thats it.

There are several easy things you can do to make sure it will not start in gear.

I did the window magnetic switches as my primary safety against remote start in gear.
It took me about 2 hrs to pre fab the work but this is how I did it and I think it is so far proven to be very safe.

Here is a crapy pic of what it looks like sorry its been taken with my phone my cam broke.

Anyhow this is what I did.
Bought magnetic window switches (the kind for anti theft that when brake appart will sent signal and alram will sound. If I can remember we used the Closed window switches so when the 2 come in near distance they will sent a signal and alarm will not work.

I used plubers tape as brackets and two of those locking O-ring's to secure the front and back magnets. Very tight secure fit + the magnets themselfs have two screws going through eachother as an added safety. It is very stiff on the stickshift and will not move even with some brute force =) made sure of that.

Also then I have two brackets per side for the other magnets that are on the outside of the booth locked by the stock 4 screws that are surrounded by the heat shield rubber.

Anyhow car will not start in any of the gears now but when the stick is in the neutral position it is furthest away from the magnets and will RMstart! anyhow this is a bit hard for me to explain but it worked really well!!!!

I have put everything together and tested it a dozen times to double and tripple check!~!!! I will not rely on it and it probably needs a check once every month or so just to make sure its still intact but I secured everything twice as good as it should!

So yes my car is now compatible even with a stickshift!
