BEEN GETTING THIS VIBRATION GUYS AROUND 3000-3500 RPMS WHETHER THE CAR IS STILL OR ITS BEING DRIVEN. I CHANGED OUT THE FRONY PULLY THINKNING IT WAS THAT BUT IT STILL HAS IT IT FEELS LIKE IT COMING FROM THE CENTER OF THE CAR. IS IT THE TRNASFER TUBE? CAR HAS 100K MILES? ANY SUGGESTIONS IDEAS?
Did you install a TC recently?
I had a vibration at 2000-2400 rpm's after having a ProTorque 2800 torque converter installed. The vibration got worse after a couple hundred miles. Tried rotating and remounting it, the vibe was better but still there. I had the ProTorque TC yanked and the stock unit reinstalled and the car is back to being smooth again.
BTW, ProTorque still hasn't refunded my money (thru Xtreme Motorsports) and it's been many weeks now...
with 100k on the car,i'm willing to bet it is the rubber joints on the driveshaft.if your car is a stick,if you step on the clutch, the vibration should change if it is the driveshaft
ok guys yeah the car is a automatic. My tranny was completly redone about 1 yr ago at ammco and yes the torque converter was replaced with a new one, just a reguar one no performance mod. I can almost bet that the vibration did not occur after the tranny change. I could take the bolts of the torque converter that connect it to the drive shaft from the acess panel right? that way if it continues i know its the driveshaft. What do you guys think?
Many cars here have developed a vibe like you describe after a TC change. My car had a vibe from 3800-4000 after I put in a vigilante TC. It is almost gone after I sent the TC back to be re-built, changed the stock flex plate out with the Yank heavy duty one, and replaced my rear torque tube coupler with the LGM aluminum one.
You can unbolt the TC from the torque tube at the flex plate using the access and running the engine (making sure that the TC doesn't wiggle forward and hit the flex plate). I did this and the vibe was virtually gone. After I reconnected it the vibe was back. The TC adds weight to the torque tube assemble...the rotating mass affects the vibe.
Some here have spun the TC one bolt hole and the vibe went away.
