Default It's Possessed!!!

This morning about 6am as i was getting ready for work all of a sudden the horn and or alarm went off for no apparent reason. The car was indoors in the garage so there is no reason to suspect that someone was messing around with it. Anyhow this horn/alarm just kept blaring for at least 15 minutes maybe even longer. In desperation I disconected the battery and guess what? The horn/alarm kept on blowing. Finally after another five minutes or so it shut down. Ah! Silence is golden. I reconnected the battery and everything remained quiet.

This happened a couple of weeks ago but at that time I thought that it was a car in the neighborhood and after a few minutes it shutoff.

Has anybody had a similiar experience with the horn/alarm going off for no apparent reason?

Yes. And, of course, I was in Minnesota on work (car was at home in TX) when I got a frantic call from my wife that the horn was blowing in the Vette, which just happened to be 6 ft. in the air at the time!

Finally the fuse blew and things got quiet. My problem is probably in the horn controller, which is embedded in the driver's airbag controller, and is pricey to replace ($350+ IIRC). Right now I've got the fuse pulled while I figure out what to do.

HTH, and have a good one,
Mike

Maybe that's what I should do, pull the fuse. Do you remember what number it was?

I am going to assume there must be some sort of charge in the alarm system in the event theives try to disconnect the power source...if not, better call a priest and have an exorcism done

There is NO way that the horn will continue to blow if you disconnect the battery! It just aint going to happen! Are you sure that you fully disconnected the battery????

I might have to give that a try!!
