Default Pulley Pulling Tools

Okay folks, I am getting ready to do a HEADS and CAM swap and will be needing to pull my underdrive pulley and I went ahead and bought the power steering pulley too, so I need to know...

What specific tool do I need to pull and put back on the two pulleys.

Thanks in advance,

Micah

The ONLY pully that you need to remove is the Harmonic Balancer pully and that only requires a 3 jaw puller. You dont need to remove the power steering pully! You can remove the ENTIRE PS bracket and pump assembly! All you need to do is remove the two hydraulic lines from the steering rack main body and lift it out.

Bill,

I am going to replace the power steering pulley, because I have read that when you get into higher amounts of horsepower, so I am replacing it when I do my heads and cam.

I have never heard of replacing the PS pulley.

Either way you have to remove the entire pump assembly in order to move the PS rack out of the way.

Look at the LS1howto.com web site and look up the instructions for a head and cam swap. This is an involved process on the C5 but a lot of fun.

you'll need a steering wheel puller for the u/d pulley, should be three holes for the bolts; often the p/s pulley breaks when being removed, although i just realized your putting new u/d p/s pulley on
