please help ....tranny question

what would be a good price to pay for a 2004 manual transmission with 30k miles? reason for asking is i would not have to pay for a rebuild /core charge. my fist gear is grinding and most places wanted 5-700 for a rebuild, and i can buy this 04 tranny from a wrecked vette for 800 outright.

also (this is a c-5 not a z06) will this bolt right into my 2000 hardtop? are/were their any changes to the tranny from 00 to 04 by gm?

$800 is probably a pretty decent price. FRC trannys are MN6s, not MN12s used in the Z06s. I think both are plug and play.
