Default Windshield washer not working

Can anyone guide me in the right direction for troubleshooting the windshield washer? The reservoir has fluid and the wipers work but no fluid coming out.

Thanks!

JetJazz,

Check that the pump works. It is located on the underside of the washer fluid reservoir. Have someone press the button on the wiper control stalk while you listen for the pump to operate. If it doesn't, check the wiper/washer mini fuse. If the fuse it OK you probably need to check the pump itself.

To get to the pump, you have to remove the washer fluid reservoir. The pump and fluid sensor are located on the bottom of the reservoir. Make sure the electrical connections to the fluid sensor are tight. Then I would disconnect the washer fluid tube from the pump and blow through it to see if the tube is clogged. If it isn't clogged, the fluid level sensor and/or pump is likely the problem. I don't know how to test them. Someone with electrical testing experience is needed or buy new parts.

What about if your wipers work and the washer fluid comes out of the driver side wiper but NOT the passenger side? I've looked all over the wipers and can't figure out why it's not spraying out on that side.

I took it to the dealer today and asked during my oil change and they said they would need to keep it overnight JUST to look at it... sigh. I don't have that kind of time to leave it and told them I will get it next time... any ideas/anyone else encounter this problem?

I had a problem where the lines got clogged. I suspect it was rainx washer fluid I used. There was a waxy gummy substance that plugged the end where the washer fulid sprays out. I just pulled the lines off and blew the stuff out and tried to clean out the spary area. Worked for a while, but now I have to look at my passengers side again .

If the pump is working try just pulling the lines apart and try and find where it may be plugged.

Good luck

Had the same problem, pulled the tubes apart and used compressed air to clear the tubes, connectors and tip. All works well now.

FWIW crummy tap water will have the same effect = mineral deposits seal up the spray nozzles located on the wiper arms.
