i recently had some codes come up on my vette and afgter 2 weeks in gthe shop I got it back and they said all codes have been erased. I should drive it for awhile before I get it smoged. Took it back to the shop and it would not pass smog due to no check engine light. Drove the car about 2 miles and what do you know the check engine light came on showing codes 420 and 430. I returned it to the shop saying they have to tune the car to remove these codes.
Could someone give me a some advice before they have the car another week and $500.00 to $1,000.00 later.
My car had the same codes after I installed my Kooks and hi flo cats.
Same here.
The codes indicate an efficiency problem with the cats. My car is running rich and needs a tune. The hi-flow cats can't handle the rich condition. I just delete the codes when they appear and wait for the next time. Hopefully the tune will solve the problem.

I had same problem. Have them (or someone) remove 02 sensor cables & install 02 "Simulators" & Plugs...takes 15 minutes after engine cools down. Parts cost $99.95 , plus 15 minutes Labor Cost?...then Erase 420 & 430 codes with OBD tool....problem solved. No Retune Req'd...
I would make sure your tune shop knows how to use the software. I use HP Tuners and I diabled the rear o2 sensors from throwing any codes. A few weeks later I had the emmisions test done and passed. no problems. If they dissable the check engine light all together it will fail, also if they just disable the codes from turning on the light it will fail. The codes will still be there, even if the lights not on. You have to dissable the rear o2 codes entirely. Good luck
