I recently (within the last month) bought a 99 vert. I am already mod-obsessed! I want to upgrade my suspension (from the f-45 garbage, at least in my opinion). I have some hotchkis sways, will most likely go with bilstein sports, and Z06 springs. I feel comfortable with the install of these parts except for the front spring (I have read several threads referencing the job as a nightmare).
My question is, "Can this install be achieved in a do-it-yourselfer garage with floor jacks, jack stands, a twelve pack, and no lift?" Is the replacement of the front spring just a PITA, or is it better left to someone with a lift (I would hate to install everything myself, learning what makes my new obsession "tick" in the process, only to have to rely on an outsider for one lousy part)?

Yup no problem. I changed out my Z51 and put on a T1 suppension with the car on 4 jack stands.
It does take some time to get it right, ride height and alignment.
I did the Z06 spring upgrade right after the Z06 came out in 2001. And i can tell you from personal experience that it's really easy. As already mentioned above check out www.LS1HowTo.com for DIY spring upgrade.....in fact Jon (the owner/operator of LS1HowTo) got his front spring changing TIP from me.
One thing that you will probably need assistance with is having someone use a TechII computer and deselect the F45 option from you car. Just make sure to unplug the wiring harnesses in the trunk of the car first.
