i have a 98 with 78k miles. How many miles did yours have? Did it break? details? I want more cubes in mine, I say YES to the 402. What mods did you have on the old engine?
I have a 402 in my frc and i love the the tq. (489 rwtq) I got mine from SDPC I think in the long run you will be happier with SDPC instead of SLP. You might want to check out ls1tech.com to find out more info on the motor and the builders
That motor looks to me like it has been rattleing. Too much timming, not enough fuel. A good tune on a motor with even cast pistons would last longer. Just because one guy bought a motor and the pistons came apart in every hole doesn't mean it's a bad piston design. I have no ties to SLP or Ross pistons, but I think they need some help about now.
As I posted in the thread over there, something doesn't make sense. He didn't use the old intake, so there is no chance previous junk from the old motor was the culprit.
I don't see how anyone can point the finger anywhere at this point. Could be a bad shortblock/ pistons, could be a bad assembly at the shop for the long block, or could be the tune.
Sounds to me like the guy just wants to vent about the situation, and he's getting a little support from the installer, so he's not mad at them. SLP needs to COMMUNICATE better in the beginning to stave off little issues like this...
car has around 38000 had afr heads valve spring seats started to come apart where the spring sit in the head pulled them was cleaning head bolt threads foundposs. crack or hole in 4th hole back on top driver side going to get a bore scope and see how bad car ran very good til the head problem it dynoed 426 rwhp lasted for about 1500 miles that is why i am looking at a 402
