I have a 402 in my frc and i love the the tq. (489 rwtq) I got mine from SDPC I think in the long run you will be happier with SDPC instead of SLP. You might want to check out ls1tech.com to find out more info on the motor and the builders

Sorry, just noticed the "slp". My motor is actually coming from MTI with Lunati internals.

Get a set of ETP or AFR 225s and 90mm im/tb setup to go with the shortblock. Man, if I only had the dough...

There have been many problems reported with the slp motors, I would stay clear of them. I would look at the one's being offered by TSP or SDPC.

That motor looks to me like it has been rattleing. Too much timming, not enough fuel. A good tune on a motor with even cast pistons would last longer. Just because one guy bought a motor and the pistons came apart in every hole doesn't mean it's a bad piston design. I have no ties to SLP or Ross pistons, but I think they need some help about now.

As I posted in the thread over there, something doesn't make sense. He didn't use the old intake, so there is no chance previous junk from the old motor was the culprit.

I don't see how anyone can point the finger anywhere at this point. Could be a bad shortblock/ pistons, could be a bad assembly at the shop for the long block, or could be the tune.

Sounds to me like the guy just wants to vent about the situation, and he's getting a little support from the installer, so he's not mad at them. SLP needs to COMMUNICATE better in the beginning to stave off little issues like this...

I would go bigger. If moneys not an issue go for a LS2 based stroker.

If on a budget than at least an LS2 shortblock!

I was considering the SLP 402 as an option but i'm not sure now. Think i'll wear out my stocker first.
