Making short throw shifter?

I got the correct die and extended the threads myself, but I agree that if you are going to do any more than just cut the top off, you should remove the shifter from the car and do it right.
If you wanted to shorted the shaft even more, you could cut the rubber vibration dampener section off, and weld the threads back on the the base of the shifter.
