I noticed the oil pressure gage is pegged at 80psi and shows 129psi on the information center. It started doing this the other day after I drove off without letting the car warm up. It even reports those numbers with the car turned off but the key in the on position.
To be sure it is the Oil Pressure sensor, turn the car on to the ignition position without starting the engine. If the gauge creeps up, it is the sender.
Very very very few cases of that happening on a stock block if ever... the design of the oil pump pretty much can't fail, only wear out and lose pressure over time.
Anyways, I've been without mine for over a year now--but it's not a bad idea to fix, as I'll be doing when I do my heads/cam/headers in the next few weeks
I've gone without gauges on some of my other cars, but I guess with my luck I would play it safe with my vette. If it wasn't for bad luck, I'd have none at all!! But yeah you're right, the chance of it going are very slim!

For the people that have replaced the oil pressure sending unit themselves, by partially sliding the intake forward... What did y'all do about the intake gaskets? Did they not need to be replaced?
I'm fixin' to attempt this repair myself and was just curious...
