Default Two codes after heads/cam install...Please help...

Had a local mechanic install MMS stage II heads/cam (224v3) and the car runs
awesome, but keeping getting two codes that won't go away.

1) TCS C1286 Steering Sensor Bias Malfunction
2) BO RFA C2120 TPM System Malfunction (No sensors received-TPM).

Can anyone tell me what might be causing the codes?

Thanks.

Offhand, I'm not sure about the first one.

As for the 2nd code, are you getting any tire pressure readings on the DIC? It sounds like you need to retrain the tire pressure sensors.

BruceF,

Thanks. You might be right...I'm not getting any reading on the tire pressure. Put on new chrome wheels at a local tire shop and have not retrain the tire
pressure.

One down, one to go!!

Don't have the codes here in front of me, but if you have a front mounted EBTCM (late 98 and up) there may have been a wire pulled loose in the connector for the unit. It could also be that if the steering column was allowed to turn while it was disconnected from the rack and the position center is not aligned properly. Those are my guesses and have seen both.

Thanks for the reply Mike. I'm not much of a mechanic at all, so what is the
"front mounted EBTCM"? I might be able to get my mechanic to look at this
if I can get an idea what this is (EBTCM) and what to look for. My mechanic
is not an LS1 guy, but did great with the h/c installation.

Thanks again. You guys are great....saved me money for sure!!

It is the Electronic Brake/Traction Control Module. it is mounted in front of the power steering pump and above the steering rack. It has a wiring harness and the brake lines going into it. Sometimes when moving this out of the way for the rack and cam removal, a strain can be put on the wiring. Hope this helps

Glad to hear your car runs awesome, and sorry to hear about the two codes. I am not a mechanic either, but I am very interested in having similar work done. This is mostly for monetary reasons. However, my C5 is my daily driver, and I can't afford screwing it up by modding it (besides my wife would kill me).

How much were the parts? How much for labor? Did you do any re-programming? Any idea on RWHP or torque?

Mike,

Thanks.

TXNC5,

This is the forum to be on if you want to learn more about your car and increasing its performance. There are many knowledgeable people on this forum who know who the C5 well.

I got my 6 spd C5 about a year ago and have been gradually adding performance parts a little at a time.

I have the basic the bolt on (Vortex, throttle coolant bypass, long tube headers, Z06 intake) and finally got the MMS heads/cam. It's easier on
the budget doing mods gradually.

The dollar amount for just the MMS stage II heads/cam was approximately
$2600 (gaskets, valvetrain shim kit also included). The install price was $960.

The car is not a daily driver but I wouldn't be afraid to drive it everyday. Idles
well with the AC on or off. Love the way it idles now...not obnoxious..but people will know there are extra horses under the hood.

Don't have dyno shop near where I am, but the power is great. 6spd, no cats,
Z06 intake, long tube heades, Ed Wright reprogram... I would have to guess
over 400 rwhp, how much over I don't know.

Find a GOOD mechanic you can trust and go for it...you'll love it!!!
