The car is going in for major service soon at RAFT Racing, and I was wondering where the cheapest place to buy the best 3.73 ring/pinion is for our cars? The diff will be open anyway, so now is the time to upgrade. Looking for 3.73's.
What other items should I purchase besides just ring/pinion?
Depends on what you plan in the future. Will you be going FI? If so, you may consider 3.42s. Do you have an M6? If so and you are staying NA, you want 4.10s.
hardend shaft, DTE brace and clutch pack springs.
if you have any high miles you may need clutch pack
I like the 3.90 gear with the m6, a 4.10 may give you to much wheel spin
I'm not asking for advice on the ratios, I'm set on 3.73.
I'll look into the clutch pack/springs. Thanks for the advice on that.
I have the DTE brace.
DTE makes cryo treated clutch packs. You can also get the heavy duty pre load springs. I just put the cryo treated clutch packs in last week when I took my 4.10s out and replaced with cryo treated 3.42s. If you want to go even further, get the billet pinion support. My diff is complete now with everything DTE has to offer in the HD department. Also, if you do go with the pre load springs make sure you follow their recommendation about the lubing. I just ordered four bottles of their special mix for the break in and change.
