Another A/C question

When I turn it on it's cool but not cold, however if I pull in to shade it gets ICE cold in about 2 seconds.
I noticed this today when I was driving home from work it was cool enough to keep me from melting and the second I pulled in the garage it was cold.
To test it I backed it out and BAM wamed up in 2 seconds, so I pulled back in and it was cold again.
I figure it must be the sun load sensor on the top of the dash but I'm not sure.
Any help would be appreciated.

This thing making me.
Having said that: the computer that controls your A/C receives a number of inputs (ambient temp, etc.), including, as you point out, the "sun sensor." When it sees lots of light, the computer says "ok, probably warm in there with the light, not unusual, just keep turning at the normal rate." Somehow, it sounds like when part of the light gets blocked, your computer is combining the light condition with something like ambient temperature, thinking something is abnormal, and going into "panic mode" = max cooling.
In short, your computer is neurotic, either because a sensor is sending it wierd signals or it has an internal problem. Time to take it to someone with the right scanner to figure out what the problem is: the good news is that with modern OBD, they should be able to figure out the problem relatively easily.
Of course, I could be completely wrong - as I said, I'm not an expert.
Good luck with it
