What rpm are you reving it to? I heard rpm is what destroyes them. The drive shaft starts to bow and whip due to a very slight imbalence destroying the couplers or worse the whole torque tube. I was reving mine to 6700 and I was lucky. When I did my clutch, I checked them and they were coming apart. I got some high strength ones from http://www.lamarwaldenautomotive.com/ . Also the 97 to 2000 c5's have a weaker torque tube(small diamiter), they upgraded them in 01 for the zo6.

I just spoke to him on the phone Bob. He was at the challenge the other night and plans on coming out on the 4th.
Something tells me that you don't want me running against you because I was so close to beating you the other night in a car that I wasn't even uswe to. I'll be ready for you the next time we line up!!! Now, can we get back to my broken torque tube?? LOL.
I don't think so buddy boy. You were owned big. And if you don't believe me go talk to my other brother Darrel MG we look forward to you joining us. Mike did you tell him what safety equipment he will need?

Seems like I remember seeing something on here a while back about a carbon fiber piece being developed by Lou at LG Motorsports. Give them a call. The have a link on the left side of the forum page. HTH
Helmet, long pants, closed shoes, NO TANK TOPS however, short sleeves are fine. I see your car is newer but i'll say it anyway.... seatbelts. Only other thing I can think of is.... You must have the desire to whoop up on Mike.

Didn't I hear something about a 20lb Radiator cap? Does this even apply to Vettes?
At the speed you will be running you will need a helmet, long pants, 30 bucks, and "your own vehicle". Right Bob?? Most importantly, you have to be ready to have a good time with some great vette owners. We look forward to adding anothe 6 speed to the mix Feb 4th. Bob watch out!!!! Another black 6 speed ready to spank ya like a red headed stepchild.

Your goin down. I got a taste, now I want the WIN. I will not be denied.
Both the front and rear (stock) ones had severe cracks in them. Luckley neather came completly apart. The ones I got from LWA were simular to urithane and they had a steel lock ring in case the urithane still broke they wouldn't come completly apart. I am very happy with them. No vibration or anything and they seem to be holding up. I'm not exactly easy on the car
Call Danny Kellermeyer at DJ racing. He is a retired GM engineer that roadraces Corvettes. He has someone manufacture aluminum torque tube couplers. I think he gets $250/pair. Well worth it. You'll be suprised how smooth your driveline is after getting rid of the rubber. I would use the later model torque tube if I were you. Start with a new driveshaft though, because if yours has the slightest out of round condition this will magnify it. I tried finding it on his web-site, but was unable to locate it. Run a search on DJ racing and you will find contact numbers for him.
I wouldn't of even known they were bad if I didn't check them when I did my clutch. They still drove fine and no major vibration. They didn't come completly apart yet, they were just on their way out. Another 5000mi and it probly would of let go.

Well, mine are at a point where you can start the car, put it in gear, and let out the clutch without the car moving or making any noises at all. You can literally shift through all the gears without leaving your parking spot and without hearing any noises at all from the drivetrain.
