I would hand fit the bolts.... I would not force them into the block, if they chromed the minor pitch of the threads, or the major pitch. the bolt may not fit, and could cause alot of trouble. I would put some anti seize thread compound on the bolts.. if the seem to feel funny, chrome is much harder than aluminum and the bolts could easily Gaul the engine block. so be careful. anytime you put anything into an aluminum block, it is very important to use anti seize.

Most good chrome platers know about chroming the threads. But you never know, so its always good to check before. Any time you remove anything from your engine block, make sure to anti seize it. Sometimes electrolysis will weld two dissimilar metals together.
Dont forget the pictures.!

I going to remove my bracket for chroming this weekend. Can you give me the steps you took to get the bracket off. I have read it is best to remove the bracket with the power steering pump attached and once out of the car remove the pump while unit is on your work bench. How did you remove power steering fluid from res and lines? Any help you can give me would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I used a old turkey baster to suck the fluid out of the reservoir. I removed the bracket and power steering pump at the same time. Then removed the pump once the bracket was off. Its a real pain in the butt. Im going to be putting mine back on tomorrow.
