Default 98 Fob

I just got the c5 I've always wanted.. Convertible.. 6spd.. procharger.. nice. The only problem is that the only fob I got doesn't work. Where can I

a) find the right size battery
or
b) get another one at a reasonable price.. and
c) program it myself?

thanks

Radio shack, Kmart, or CVS for the battery. For a new FOB, you can try ebay, if not, it's off to the stealer.

Default okay

I'll check Radio Shack tomorrow.. thanks

after replacing the battery.. will this fob still be programmed to work on this car? Or, do I have to reprogram.. which leads to the next question..

how do I program a key fob for my 98 Corvette?

and, while I'm at it.. what's the passive slider for?

thanks a million

There is a program fob menu on your DIC, page through it and it explains what to do.

The early C5s have a passive mode. There is a pendulum switch in fob and walking towards car automatically unlocks it, while walking away locks it. You do NOT have to push buttons. New C6s brought back this feature. If you lock your keys in the car, with the passive switch on, you can just shake the car and it will unlock the doors.

Oh, stand by car and push both the lock and unlock buttons for 5-7 seconds, if horn honks you have reset fob. Sometimes this works, reprograming always works (as long as battery and fob are okay).

Default are you kidding me?

I just walked out to the garage.. held lock and unlock.. and, almost jumped out of my boots when the horn beeped. Works great now. That's crazy.. but, great.

thanks!

If you still go battery shopping, it's a CR2450. I got mine at Staples.
