Default Shift Points For A/4

Changed from 2.73 to 3.42.I need to know where to set 1-2,2-3,3-4, shift points without getting into the fuel cutoff.(6000RPM) The car has stock sized tires. My tuner is using the LS-1 Edit.

on my Predator, it asks for MPH figures for WOT shifts.

I found mine by placing the A4 in "1" and taking the car up to redline - then noting the MPH

Then did the same, 'cept with the tranny in "2"; again noting the MPH at redline. (I wasn't brave enough to to that in "3" )

then I enterd in the WOT shifts 2 mph below the noted readings.

I was thinking of replacing my 2.73's with 3.42's. Will the speedo have to be recalibrated as well as the shift points? Is the difference in performance really noticable? I assume it must be. What would I expect to pay for 3.42 gears? Can just the gears be changed or do I need a new differential?

I am a new C5 owner and just getting up to speed on performance mods. So far the car is stock. It is an 04' convertible.

thanks,
Mike

You have to change shift points,I don't think you have to do anything w/ the speedo. And there is a BIG difference in performance. You have to change the rear carrier, can't use the 2.73 carrier. If you don't do to much highway driving,go 3.73.Just my opinion .A shop did mine,it was $2300.(From 2.73 to 3.42's & TC) But I changed again to 3.73,s and did it myself $1500.I'm assuming you have an auto.

The scale was set at 150mph and I couldn't move it down to the recommended 130 for upshift or 118 for downshift 118. Did you have this problem or is there a problem with my Predator?

Thanks,

Default gears

Had Andy at A&A do mine. Went from 3.15s to 3:42s. If you do any highway driving don't go below 3:42s. New diff was $1200 and labor was around $500. I would highly recommend you get a tune with it as they will set the computor up for the new gears and tweak the time of shifts and pressure at the same time. If you are thinking of a hi-stall convertor in the future, do it at the same time and save $500 on labor.

I have my 1-2 set to around 15mph. It's a nice hard shift but not too hard. Better for the tranny too! At least that's what I was told. And I'm running 373's.
