Default nitrous

hi,
I'm wondering how much is a safe/common shot of nitrous to run on the ls1 motor. Some friend of a friend of mine is talking a whole bunch of smack about how his 99 camaro z28 is running mid 11's on just nitrous, and that seems to be a little rediculous to me. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.

If he's running 150+ shot and has some sticky tires, it's possible. Is it safe or common? Probably more common than safe. Most conservative guys run 75 to 100 shot on a stock LS1. I plan on running 75 shot, but I'd be lying if I said I would never push it to 100.

I'm not sure, but I think I'm running low 11's on the juice. No heads and cam. Mid to high 11's is possible on a basically stock LS1 with good traction. He might just be in the 11's, you never know. Oh yeah! What in the hell is a lilsupdog? Sounds like a rap artist.

:p: what is a supdawg? i was trying to be humble . I have a 97 supra, just a shade over 400 rwhp. This guy is gonna want to throw a whole bunch down on a race, and i haven't had a chance to look at the car. is there any way to tell what kind of shot they're running just by eyeing it?

Yo yo yo! Wuz up homeboyeee? Just kidding! Nah, unfortunately there is no way to tell what shot he's running. If it's a dry shot, chances are it's not more than a 100. If he says he's in the 11's, he probably has a one fitty. I had a pretty much stock Trans Am that became a rocket when I sprayed it. I beat up on several Supras, Vipers, Civics, etc.. :jester So watch out, he might just hand you your arss!

see what i'm wondering is if you can actually get into the 11's on just a 150 shot. My gut tells me he's um embellishing a tad. Also, if he's on street tires, he's gonna have some traction problems. I have some 315 geforces back there so i'll be able to launch about as well as possible on street tires

YES, you can! My T/A had a K&N, cat back, and a few other very insignifigant mods, and nitrous of course. I ran 11's on street tires (285 40 17) pretty easily. He may be embellishing, I don't really know, but it is entirely possible. In fact it's probable, but just how deep into the 11's just depends.

With stock tires, I think he'll be looking at high 11s. There are a couple C5s here that have run low to mid 11s with just 150 shot (even 100 shot), but they usually have stickier tires. Trap speeds are usually 122 +. These numbers are what C5s usually get, I don't know what they would be for a Z28, but should be pretty close. Whatever you do, don't race on a roll. He won't have traction problems if you're on a roll, clutch problems is another story. I know Supras like to race from a roll, but it won't be close if you do race from a roll.
