I have a 1997 C5 coupe which has recently developed a problem while in storage. The climate control fan runs continously without the keys in the ignition. The only mechanism I have to stop this problem is to disconnect the battery. Any suggestions?
BTW, the vehicle is stored for the winter here in NY in a non-heated garage, if this helps.
TIA for any aid.
Steve
Check for something grounding out the AC blower motor (which is above the passenger feet. Remove that panel to access it). If that unit gets grounded, it will turn on, even with no key.
My blower motor in my '97 is doing the same thing. I'm on here looking for inexpensive answers short of installing a switch. There was a service bulletin #83-11-10 (Jan 27, 1998) about a glitch found in the blower motor control module (software of the CJ2 HVAC Control Assembly). The fix was to replace the module, which would cost $585 + shipping from GM Parts Direct (PN 9356081). Did you come up with a cheaper solution other than installing a switch on the power side of the blower?
Thanks,
- TC
P.S. Mine did it while I was away and I have a DEAD battery now.
