Default Steering Clunk

Has anybody had any experience with a clunk in their steering?

Car is a 2001 Coupe with just over 30k on the clock. I haven't COMPLETELY narrowed it down yet, but it seems to happen when making sharp, low speed turns (i.e.- driving through parking lots, into/ out of parking spaces, etc.)

I don't want to bring it to the dealer to have them charge me the $85 "Diag. fee" just to find nothing wrong with it.

So, anyone know what it is/ have any experience with a clunk? And, more importantly, is it covered under warranty?

start with loose tie rod ends, sway bar end links, ball joints and steering rack mount bolts(2 of them). Grab the wheel top and bottom and shake and then side to side.

,most likely a ball joint[ball joints usually clunk on turns and create weird pulls],tierods you can usually feel through the steering wheel while driving down the road.
definitely to the shake test

Sounds like the intermediate steering shaft problem that is common across the GM line. It is covered under warranty.

My Impala has it and my son's Silverado had it.
