I know long tubes give more power but does anyone have any first hand experience with these shorty's? The price and installation seems resonable for the DIY'er. What about the quality, fit, sound, hp gains in the real world. For the people who have these headers on your car now, would you recommend them or would you suggest something else?

have a set of bbk shorties chrome 225 shipped thanks
If you're going to go shorties, you should get the B&B's. The BBK shorties don't compare at all in quality, and the B&B's will give you a few more horses.
save up for lt's, they are not hard to put in at all. the shorties will have you doing it again in a short wile, also there is a certian amount of BS that goes with any headers so you might as well get some real hp for your trouble.
I have a set soon to come off. Think they will make better fishing weights. If you can go to long tube now, because you will wind up doing it anyway. Good luck
There was a Post..saying instead of spending a lot of money on shorty headers, to get a ZO6 exhaust manifold (they are made of cast iron) port and polish them..the HP is better than shorties and cheaper... plus a stock fit.

As Will's robot used to say, "That does not compute!"
Switching to the later model cast exhaust manifolds, requires changing the entire exhaust system right up to the catback, gains less than 4 rwhp, while adding shorties will give you a minimum of 8 hp and as much as 15. The B&B system took a stock 99 from 286 rwhp to 316, that included their catback. Those figures were immediately after install with no drive time or tuning. Pacesetter and JBA cat-forward show similar gains.Considering all of these systems are smog legal and sell for less than $400, except JBA which uses stainless, they are quite the bargain.BBK are junk, poor welds, mild steel and coated only on the outside with their own version of coating.Ive seen a set of these and wouldn't put them on a tricycle...Most bang for the buck are the jet -hot coated pacesetters, or if you must have long tubes the jet- hot coated TPIS purchased direct from Jet-hot, half the price of the latest crowd favorites.I get physically ill when $600 of my hard earned money goes down the tubes for someones name or reputation.http://www.jet-hot.com/Images/Corvetteheader.jpg
The only way to do shorties is B&B .......... 4.5 hrs is good time..........why would you spend your time or pay someone to put on junk. B&B is the **** when it comes to shorties.
Before flaming, I'm going long soon but the B&B's are impressive!
