Did you run the learning program through the DIC before trying to sync them?

Give this a try. When I got my new FOBs I did this and they now work perfectly. My original ones were dead but then ew ones work great after programming.

Key Fobs
There are basically two different kinds of key fobs, and they are not compatible with each other.
97-00, but 00 does not have the Passive Lock feature
01-04

Both remotes use a CR2450 coin type battery. I found replacement batteries at Office Depot. To replace, use a coin to wedge between the seam, and twist.
Ref: Service manual, page 8-747.

5-Press and hold the Reset button for 3 seconds
6-Press the option button until FOB Training message is displayed
7-Press the Reset button in order to begin the programming sequence.
8-Simultaneously press and hold the lock an unlock buttons on the first transmitter for 12 seconds. The IPC will indicate when that transmitter is programmed and when to proceed to the next. Repeat this step for each transmitter.
Hope this helps.

Good question; never had the radio on when I did it and can't imagine what difference that would make but who knows. I did make sure the passive switch was off but don't really know if that matters or not. The only other thing may be that after you train them then go outside the car and hold down the lock/unlock at the same time and wait for the horn to chirp. . .that should sync them. Not really sure if that is a nnecessary step after the learning sequence or not.
Someone out there should be able to chime in and answer the question.

I assume he's talking about the regular old 12v car battery, you know, Optima or Die Hard, under the hood on the passenger side in front of the window...

I was under some impression that there was another small battery somewhere. Meh, I read it somewhere, I thought.

There are two procedures to make the FOB's work; FOB Training and FOB RE-Sync. You must train your fobs first. The procedure is in the owners manual. Or you can find it in the TECH TIPS section. You can train up to THREE FOBs at one time. If you only have one FOB, you can train just that one. Each FOB has a battery inside. It is recommended that you replace the FOB batteries if you are having issues with transmitting or they just quit working and refuse to sync or train.

If your FOB's just quit working after you Re-TRAIN them, you can do a (RE-Sync) by pressing LOCK and UN-LOCK at the same time and hold them until the horn toots. If you continuously loose sync with your fobs, follow the info below!!

If your 12 VDC main battery is weak, when you crank your car the battery output voltage will dip LOW and cause the BCM to shut down for a millisecond or so and you will loose sync with your FOBs. Trust me on this one!!!

is it possible for the bcm to stop receiving transmission from the fobs?

i have a brand new red top in the car, and new batteries that i put into new fobs. i also replaced the battery in the old one. im know im following the proper proceedure, but still nothing. the dic never changes from "traing first fob", and i dont get a horn chirp.

Does the tire pressure monitor work? The fobs and tire monitors share the same receiver.

If you find that the FOB receiver needs to be replaced email me; I have a good used one for sale.
