Default 2000 vs. 2001 HP & Torque?

I know there's a 5 HP & 25# of torque difference between an '00 and '01. What accounts for that difference? What aftermarket part(s) can be purchased to get '01 - '04 LS1 performance & keep the motor essentially "stock"? Thanks!

One of the changes was they went with the LS6 intake

Also Cam

Published specs for Corvette cams are as follows:

'97-00 LS1: 0.472/0.479, 202/210 on 117
'01+ LS1: 0.500/0.500, 198/208 on 115.5

Interesting - thank you! Would you advise adding an LS6 intake?

I think it's alot of money for 5 HP. I would add a good cold air intake and you can get 10 to 15 HP (like a black wing). I f you don't know what these are they are a high flow air filter.

Vararam, Dynatech headers (with HF Cats), Magnaflow exhaust and Tune was good for 38 rwhp on my 2004. Base was 308 rwhp to the 350 crank hp advertised. You could assume the same with delta increase.

Now if you have an extra $700 hanging around, the 78mm FAST Manifold would be a good addition, especially if the is Heads and Cam in your future There I go, over modding again.....sorry

The 2000 cam was a one year only cam 0.500/0.500, 198/208 on 115.5

01+ was a 0.479 cam

Many of the 2000 vettes came with pup cats which cut off almost 5 hp. Those without made closer to 350 hp. The 2001+ vettes had the better intake for the extra hp and tq.

Actually, according to what I have, the 2000 had the most aggressive cam of any LS1. Here are the specs:

1997-1999 ls1 y-car .479/.472 207-199dur 117 lsa
2000 ls1 y-car .500/.500 209-198dur 115.5 lsa
2001-2004 ls1 y-car .479/.467 207-196dur 116 lsa
2001 ls6 y-car .525/.525 211-204dur 116lsa
2002-2004 ls6 y-car .551/555 217-204dur 117.5lsa

The 2001-2004 LS1/LS6 intake was a better intake. In actuality, any real performance differences between any stock LS1 C5s are minimal at best, IMHO. When my 2000 was still basically stock, my tuner told me it was the strongest (basically stock) C5 A4 he'd seen, and he's done a ton of them. Used to race some friends with a 1998, 2001 and 2002. No real difference. All of us had intakes and catbacks as the only mods.

You guys are animals! Good information. Guess I need to figure out if I've got the Pup Cats & go from there. The car has a Z06 stock intake & Corsa cat-back. Interesting info on the cam. Cool!

The f-body had the .500 lift cam of the 2000 too.My 98ss walked all C-5's and that got frisky till she got totaled by a left turn in front of me.
That was only 320 rated. So the rating didn't mean much.
