Spring popped off side mirror
I know this is not an uncommon problem, the circlips have come off the posts holding the springs on so the side mirrors can pivot if hit. Both sides of my '98 have come off a few times, brought it back to the dealer to fix the first few times, got sick of that then I decided to epoxy them in place. This winter I figured since I'm not driving the car I might as well fix then right. Anyone know of a good and permanent fix to this. Also would appreciate any help in getting the door panels off. If I can get in there maybe I can figure something that will help.

It may not be easy to find, but there is a "How to" with pictures on repairing the mirrors somewhere on the forum. From what I remember, the mirrors were disassembled, and a hole drilled in the shaft so that a pin could be put behind the washer. Since it in effect shortened the shaft, the spring was shortened slightly so that it would not be too strong.
